For Massengiles, surprise party marks anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — A surprise celebration the evening of July 11 at Le Chateau Caf in Austintown marked the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Massengile, 1526 Jacobs Road.

Invitations were extended for the party hosted by the couple’s children, Vernon C. Massengile of Youngstown and Andrea Y. Massengile of Washington, D.C.

The couple have one grandchild, LaMont Harvey.

On July 11, 1959, Otis Charles Massengile and Audrey Ann Logan exchanged wedding vows in Youngstown.

She is a volunteer worker at the McGuffey Centre in Youngstown. Mrs. Massengile is also a lifetime member and trustee board member of Reed’s Chapel Church in Youngstown.

Mr. Massengile is a truck driver for Hubbard Lumber Co. in Hubbard. He retired from Republic Steel/LTV in 1984 as a general foreman. He is a lifetime member, treasurer, usher, former van driver and trustee board member of Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church. Mr. Massengile served with the 13th Infantry Band in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.
