Area chefs to compete for awards at dinner
HUBBARD — Area chefs will be participating in the Top Chef Dinner, to be sponsored by the Pastoral Council of St. Patrick Church at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 in the church hall.
Tickets for the dinner are $15 and are available from any council member or at the church office, 225 N. Main St. Proceeds will benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Hubbard.
Chefs interested in demonstrating their food preparation skills in entrees, soups, salads, appetizers and desserts have until Sept. 29 to register for the event by calling (330) 534-7679.
Following dinner, patrons will vote for their favorite dishes, and awards will be presented to the winners in each category.
Library seeks volunteers
NEWTON FALLS — Newton Falls Public Library, 204 S. Canal St., is inviting residents 15 years of age and older to become volunteers and work side by side with staff members at the library.
There is an ongoing need at the library for help sorting and shelving library materials, assisting with special projects, demonstrating new technologies, answering phones, shelf-reading and other activities.

Relay for Life team expresses thanks
NILES — The RTI Niles/USW Relay for Life Team thanks golfers, hole sponsors, and those who made donations for the participating in a recent successful golf outing.
Funds from the event will be used for research and for the fight against cancer.
