Crestview, Springfield, McDonald, Western Reserve all open with league romps


HANOVERTON — Adam Britton and Carter Hill contributed 253 yards of combined total offense and four touchdowns Friday as the Crestview High football team blanked United, 39-0.

Cody Simpson rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown for the Rebels (4-0, 1-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier One).

Tristen Reynolds booted a field goal.

United’s Zach Taylor had five catches for 70 yards, but couldn’t give the Eagles (1-3, 0-1) the spark they needed for a comeback.

Springfield 46, Lisbon 7

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Jimmy Zubick ran often and ran early against Lisbon, contributing 187 yards of offense and three touchdowns.

Dylon DeJane added two scores and 124 yards of offense for Springfield (3-1, 1-0 ITCL1)

Lisbon’s (0-4, 0-1) score came in the fourth quarter on a Jake Terry 5- yard run.

McDonald 50, Lowellville 6

LOWELLVILLE — Nick Cupan rushed 18 times for 118 yards and four touchdowns to pace the Blue Devils (4-0, 1-0 ITCL2).

Cupan scored on rushes of 1, 2, 17 and 1 yards as McDonald built a 36-0 cushion at the break.

Zach Tura added touchdown runs of 7 and 5 yards.

Lowellville (0-4, 0-1) got on the board when Evan Filip rushed for an 18-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Western Reserve 54, Sebring 13

SEBRING — Western Reserve quarterback Shane Ewing threw three touchdown passes to Clayton Hull and also ran for two scores to lead the Blue Devils (4-0, 1-0 ITCL2).

Hull also had a 62-yard punt return for a touchdown and Donny Bolton (on an 18-yard run) and Ed Newhouse (on a 3-yard run) also had touchdowns.

Adam Oblisk had a touchdown run for Sebring (1-3, 0-1) while Corey Baia threw a scoring pass to Seamus Johnson.

Leetonia 42 Jackson-Milton 14

LEETONIA — Jackson-Milton (1-3, 0-1 ITCL2) jumped out to a fast start before Leetonia (3-1, 1-0) took control.

Justin Colella led the Bears with 222 yards receiving.

Wellsville 20, Southern 0

WELLSVILLE — Jeremy Carter rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns.

Carter scored on runs of 10, 5 and 94 yards. He also completed a pass to DeShon Pullie covering 34 yards.

The Tigers (4-0, 1-0 ITCL2) held a 290-45 edge in total yards. Southern (2-2, 0-1) had five turnovers, including four lost fumbles.
