Campbell scores in many ways


BROOKFIELD — Campbell Memorial got three touchdowns on special teams and defense to spur a 48-7 victory over Brookfield in an All-American Conference White Tier game on Friday.

The Red Devils (3-1, 1-0 AAC) got a 66-yard punt return from Alex Lopez midway through the first quarter for their first touchdown, then put the game away with four TDs in a span of six minutes in the second period.

Among the scores were a 48-yard return of blocked punt by Michale Brooks and a 46-yard interception return by Darrio Bivens.

Bivens also connected with Richard Bledsoe on a 66-yard scoring pass and Lester Hughes scored twice on runs of 1 and 10 yards. Jales Hughes also scored for Campbell.

Brookfield (0-4, 0-1) got a late touchdown by Jeremy Quinlan.

Niles 28, Beaver Local 21

NILES — Darius Harris scored from a yard out with 18 seconds remaining as the Red Dragons (3-1, 1-0 AAC Red) rallied in the final five minutes.

Blake Robinson rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns, and he scored a third TD on a 5-yard pass from Bryceton Baker.

But Ricky May, who had 103 yards and two scores, and Evan Schneider, who scored on a 4-yard run with 8:19 remaining, gave the Beavers (0-4, 0-1) a 21-14 lead.

Robinson made it 21-20 with 5:09 to go on a 17-yard run, but the extra point was no good.

Liberty 13, Struthers 7

LIBERTY — Brandon Martin scored on a 1-yard TD run in the third quarter to break a 7-7 tie and help lift Liberty in an All-American Conference White Tier game.

Charles Perdue also scored on a 1-yard TD for the Leopards (3-1, 1-0), while Robert Smith-Harris (37 yards) and DeAndrey Abron (38 yards) led a rushing attack that rolled up 160 yards on the ground.

For Struthers (0-4, 0-2), Ryan Pollifrone completed 10 of 26 passes for 254 yards and a TD. Kevin McDonald caught four passes for 90 yards and Jermayne Brooks caught one for 72 yards and a TD.

LaBrae 35, Champion 0

LEAVITTSBURG — LaBrae evened its record with a dominant team performance.

The Vikings (2-2, 1-0 AAC Blue) outgained Champion 275-35, limiting the Blue Streaks (1-3, 0-1) to one first down.

Evan Hill scored two touchdowns for LaBrae, Andrew Sakela threw a 32-yard scoring toss to Todd Collins and Jemell Keeney returned a punt 73 yards for a score. Zach Miller rounded out the scoring.
