UNIONTOWN LAKE-BOARDMAN

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. today in Boardman.

Scouting report: The Spartans (2-1) have beat up on Cuyahoga Falls and Chaney over the last two weeks since their tough loss to Mooney in Week 1. Look for QB Rob Boyd (470 yards passing) and WR Chase Hammond (332 yards receiving) to try and hook up early and often. The Blue Streaks (1-2) are coming off back-to-back losses to Hudson and Canton McKinley and can’t afford another Federal League loss.

COLUMBIANA-EAST PALESTINE

Kickoff: 7 p.m. today in East Palestine.

Scouting report: Columbiana (3-0) rolled up 344 yards in last week’s win over Struthers and again looks like one of the teams to beat in Tier One of the Inter Tri-County League. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, are off to their best start since 1988 — not even their 2002 playoff team started 3-0, and that one finished 9-1 — and have looked impressive doing it. Look for the Clippers to focus on QB Shane Peterson, who is a threat anywhere on the field.

SOUTH RANGE-MINERAL RIDGE

Kickoff: 7 p.m. today in Mineral Ridge.

Scouting report: Ignore the teams’ 1-2 records in this one. The Rams (Mogadore, McDonald) and the Raiders (Independence, Marlington) have lost to teams with a combined record of 12-0. Dan Skiba (168 yards) and Kyle Skiba (94) lead a physical ground attack for Ridge. RB Kyle Seaver and QB Vince Miller lead the Raider attack.

BEAVER LOCAL-NILES

Kickoff: 7 p.m. in Niles.

Scouting report: Beaver Local (0-3) hasn’t been blown out in any of its losses, and will try to put together a complete game against the Red Dragons (2-1), who have found a way to win twice and who held their own against Liberty. Niles QB Zack Bailey has been productive with his arm (231 yards passing, 3 TDs) and his legs (121 yards rushing, 2 TDs).

SOUTHERN-WELLSVILLE

Kickoff: 7 p.m. today in Wellsville.

Scouting report: It’s early, but with teams like McDonald and Western Reserve looming on the schedule, neither team can afford any loss in Tier Two of the ITCL. Wellsville (3-0) RB Jeramy Carter rushed for 183 yards in last week’s win over Lisbon, while RB Bryan Brinker exploded for 226 yards in Southern’s (2-1) win over Toronto.
