First Night fund-raising dinner Sunday at St. Pat's


YOUNGSTOWN — First Night Youngstown is having a fund-raising event from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the St. Patrick Social Hall, 1420 Oak Hill Ave.

Tickets are $6.50 for age 10 and older and $3.50 for children 9 and under.

Dinners include pasta with meatballs, salad, bread, coffee, punch and dessert. Carryouts will be available, and there also will be a Chinese auction and a 50-50 raffle.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the First Night Youngstown office at (330) 744-9966 or at the door.

The dinner is the first of several events that will take place leading up to New Year’s Eve. Some of the other events include a 2-kilometer walk and fun run Nov. 14 and a holiday parade Dec. 5 that will take place in conjunction with the city’s annual tree-lighting ceremony.

Also, beginning Friday there will be a series of events called “First Night Fridays” at various venues in the downtown area featuring performers who will appear at First Night Youngstown.

First Night is a family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts featuring live entertainment and family activities. Venues for the event are centered around downtown Youngstown and the Youngstown State University campus.

Proceeds from all the events will be used to promote and implement this year’s First Night Youngstown event. This will be the city’s 10th annual First Night.
