If you haven’t had a chance to experience the outdoor movies at Yellow Creek Theatre, there’s still time. Friday’s film will be “Mildred Pierce,” which was scheduled earlier this summer but was rained out. Joan Crawford stars in the film that won her an Academy Award and revived her career. Crawford gives one of her most convincing performances in this story of a determined woman’s rise from waitress to restaurateur. Her sole motivation in life becomes the happiness of her decadent, spoiled daughter. The film conveys director Michael Curtiz’s love of the night world and captures the ambiance of 1940s Southern California. The film will be shown at dusk behind the library on route 224 in Poland. Admission is free.
