Authorities accuse Ohio bank manager of theft

CLEVELAND (AP) — Federal authorities in Ohio have accused a woman of stealing $405,000 from a bank where she worked as a manager.

Authorities say Diane Lantz, 58, a branch operations supervisor for KeyBank in Huron, stole money between 2002 and May of this year.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Karol says misappropriations were discovered by bank employees.

Troy Wisehart, Lantz’s attorney, says his client doesn’t deny the allegations and is cooperating with the investigation. He says Lantz took the money to help pay the medical bills of an ill family member.

If convicted, Lantz could face a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. Her attorney says he hopes Lantz’s lack of a previous record will be considered in court.
