FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

• Benjamin Firestone Post 290, American Legion, Columbiana, has its kitchen open to the public daily through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., featuring daily specials. On Friday there will be an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4-7 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The meal includes mac and cheese, fries, coleslaw, dessert, and coffee or tea.

• Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will sponsor a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and Sept. 23 at the church. The menu will include salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, bread and butter, pie and beverage. Cost is $6.50, and containers will be provided for takeout orders. No reservations are necessary. • Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., will have a drive-through dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Place orders on the north side of the church and pick them up on the south side. Meals include stuffed chicken breast, gravy, baked potato with sour cream, green beans and a brownie. The cost is $6.

THURSDAY

• Woodworth Church of the Brethren, 30 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, will be offering takeout dinners for sale beginning at 4 p.m. until sold out. The cost for the meal is $6 and features meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans and a cookie.

FRIDAY

• First Federated Church Women’s Fellowship of North Jackson will have a turkey dinner and country store from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Meals include dressing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, coleslaw, applesauce, rolls, and dessert. The price is $9 per plate for adults, and $5 per plate for children 5 to 12. Those 4 and under eat free. Takeouts will be available beginning at 3:30 for $9. • Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 :30 to 11 a.m. Friday at (330) 755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

• Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.

• Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will be selling potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed early from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday at (330) 746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Advance sales only. Lunches will be served from 11:30 a.m. till 1 p.m.

• Lordstown Christian Church will sponsor a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, salad, dessert and beverage from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lordstown High School. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers needed). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

• St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

• Potato, prune and kraut pirogi will be sold at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at (330) 755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

• St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, will bake Italian-style red and white pizza. Phone orders will be accepted at (330) 788-0025 between 9-11:30 a.m. only. Pickup will be until 1 p.m. Price is $6 for regular or Brier Hill pizza, and $5 for white pizza.

• St. Paul the Apostle Church, Main Street, New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi. Orders can be called to (330) 542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

• St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. The cost is $4.50 a dozen. Advance orders will be taken at (330) 747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance.

SATURDAY

• Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, Boardman, will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m.. The menu includes spaghetti, meatballs, Italian bread, salad, dessert and beverage. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Takeouts will be available.

• Deerfield American Legion, 1517 state Route 14, will serve breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. at the post home. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children, and the menu consists of pancakes, sausage, eggs, sausage gravy over biscuits and a beverage. Proceeds will benefit the American Legion scholarship fund.

• The Hartford Fire Association, along with the Burghill-Vernon Fire Dept., will sponsor a pancake breakfast at the Old Hartford VFW Hall from 7:30-11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The VFW hall is on Hartford Five Points Road in Hartford Township. Donations are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for kids 5-12, and free for those under 5. The breakfast includes pancakes, french toast, sausage gravy over biscuits, eggs, sausage, milk, orange juice, coffee and tea. Carryout is available.

• Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland, will have a spaghetti and meatballs dinner, with salad, bread, dessert and beverage from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and under. Takeouts will be available.

• The Holy Name Society of St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, is sponsoring its second annual wood-fired steak dinner from 4-8 p.m. The donation is $15, and takeouts are available. The meal consists of a 14-ounce Porterhouse steak, potato, salad, vegetable and dessert. Proceeds benefit St. Joseph School. Tickets are available at the rectory (330) 755-0266 or at the door.

• Old Springfield United Church of Christ, 11957 state Route 170, one mile south of New Middletown, will have a barbecued chicken dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meals include dessert and beverage. Tickets are $8 for adults, $3.50 for children 6 to 12, and free for those 6 and under.

• St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, will be sponsoring its third annual Southern-style barbecue pulled pork dinner from 3-7 p.m. Eat in or carry out. The meal includes slow cooked barbecue pulled pork with homemade sauce, baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread, dessert and beverage. Tickets are $10 each. SUNDAY

• Capt. Charles M. Marino Post 3, Italian-American War Veterans, 113 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 to 10. Those under 6 may eat for free. Carryouts also will be available; containers can be purchased or patrons may provide their own. Singer Steve Fazzini will perform from 2 to 4 p.m.

• Liberty Little Leopards will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 1 to 6 p.m. at the cafeteria of Liberty High School. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 10. There will also be a bake sale.

• Protestant Family Service will sponsor a fundraising spaghetti dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hungarian Presbyterian Church, Calvin Center Hall, 755 Mahoning Ave. The donation is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 to 12. Carryouts will be available.

• St. Joseph Church Men’s Club will sponsor an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the social hall, 4565 New Road, Austintown. Meals include eggs, sausage, toast, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and free for those under 6.

• The Rotary Club of Champion will sponsor an all-you-can-eat buffet-style Amish dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26. Featured will be chicken, roast beef, stuffing, real mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade bread, green beans, coleslaw and desserts.
