Anthony Gutierrez to present case on paying restitution to Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A top aide to former Attorney General Marc Dann will make his case for how much he should pay in restitution to the state for attempted workers’ compensation fraud.

Anthony Gutierrez of Liberty was scheduled to speak today with attorneys from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation about what portion of $6,700 in proposed fines he will pay the state. The hearing was continued until October, however.

The hearing is part of an agreement reached in a plea deal between Gutierrez and the state on multiple charges, including theft in office while serving as Dann’s general services director.

Gutierrez was fired in May 2008 for violating sexual harassment policies.

Dann stepped down later that month after mismanagement in office and revelations he had an affair with a subordinate.
