Ohio State gears up for more swine flu

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio State University is preparing for the possibility of more swine flu by encouraging students to arrive for the fall term with hand sanitizer and tissues.

The nation’s largest university also will tell students to wash hands frequently, and to isolate themselves or return home if they become sick.

Ohio State officials on Monday outlined the school’s flu plan for the fall quarter, which begins Sept. 23.

Dr. Roger Miller, a Student Health Services preventive medicine physician, says Ohio State had seven confirmed swine flu cases in the spring and expects to go another round with the flu.

He says the university will begin offering seasonal flu vaccines to students in September and will provide swine flu shots once they become available.
