Eagle Heights Academy fights closure order

YOUNGSTOWN — Eagle Heights Academy, a charter school located in the former South High School on Market Street, says it plans to fight a state-mandated closure because of academic issues.

A change in charter school law at the state level this year directs that charter schools that have been rated in academic emergency for two of the last three years must shut down operations, and Eagle Heights fits that category.

The school, in a statement released today, said it is pursuing options that it hopes will allow it to remain open.
