WRTA rolls out fixed-route suburban cross-town service
BORADMAN – With the passage of a countywide sales tax last fall, WRTA is able to complete the expansion of transportation services countywide.
The first phase of expanded services was implemented in February with support from federal grants. These included restoring Saturday and evening fixed routes in the WRTA service area and restoring fixed route services to Youngstown, Campbell and Austintown.
The second phase that starts today is supported by WRTA’s countywide sales tax. The increased countywide services include fixed route suburban cross-town service connecting Campbell, Struthers, Poland and Boardman, EasyGo curb-to-curb service and a Boardman Loop. These services are available for all residents in Mahoning County including seniors, employees and people with disabilities.
More information about these new services is available at their revamped website at www.wrtaonline.com
WRTA is having a kick off rally at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
