Regional Chamber’s events mix together networking, comedy

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is planning two special events in October that combine traditional networking with comedy.
The first will be Oct. 17 at the DeYor Performing Arts Center’s Ford Family Recital Hall in downtown Youngstown.
Scheduled are comedians Drew Hastings, Tim Cavanagh and Josh Sneed. Both Hastings and Cavanagh have appeared on Comedy Central, “The Tonight Show,” “Late Night with David Letterman” and “The Bob & Tom Radio Show.”
They also have headlined the Bob & Tom Comedy All Stars Tour.
The networking portion of this event will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. at Ford Hall for Chamber members and their employees only.
The doors will open to the public at 7 p.m., with the comedy show starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for Chamber members and their employees and $25 for the public.
Tickets are available for purchase at any Ticketmaster location or at regionalchamber.com.
The second event will be Oct. 24, also at Ford Hall.
It will be the Chamber’s first women and minority networking/entertainment event.
Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams; Ohio State Rep. Jay Goyal; and Bonnie Boatright, president/CEO of The Inner Office, a health-management consulting firm in Cortland, will each give brief remarks.
Comedian Guy Torry will headline the show. Marina Franklin also will perform.
Torry has appeared on BET’s “Comic View,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” “Showtime at the Apollo” and HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam.”
He’s also appeared in the following movies: “Funny Money,” “The Last Stand,” “Dead and Deader,” “Stuck on You,” “Runaway Jury,” “Don’t Say A Word,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Life,” “The Animal” and most notably, “American History X.”
Franklin has appeared on Comedy Central’s “Comic View” and “Def Comedy Jam.”
The networking part of this event will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for Chamber members and their employees, city employees and MYCAP employees.
The doors will open to the public at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets will be $17 for all of the host organizations and $20 for the public. Tickets can be bought at the same outlets mentioned above.
