Car with bullet holes

YOUNGSTOWN — Police responded to the area of Glenwood and Falls avenues in reference to gunfire about 12:37 p.m. Sunday and a gold or beige vehicle that may have been involved in gunfire in the West Indianola, Glenwood and Volney areas.

Police stopped a vehicle that has bullet holes in the driver’s- side door in the 500 block of Falls Avenue. They found the driver, Marcus A. Dill, 27, of the 2000 block of Birch Street, to be under several noncompliance suspensions and found three small bags of suspected marijuana.

Dill was issued a summons for driving while under suspension. He was to appear in Youngstown Municipal Court today.

Fire in New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The New Castle Fire Department responded to a call about 4 p.m. Saturday on Terrace Avenue.

No one was injured, and there was an estimate of $20,000 damage.

The fire is considered to be suspicious.

Recycling center closed

HUBBARD — The recycling center off West Liberty Street will be closed today through the week.

Lane restrictions

YOUNGSTOWN — Beginning Wednesday, Market Street will have various lane restrictions from Midlothian Boulevard to Indianola Avenue for resurfacing work.

This work is part of an $800,000 project to resurface state Route 7 from Midlothian to Indianola, Glenwood Avenue from Midlothian to U.S. Route 62, and U.S. 62 from Williamson Avenue to Hadnett Drive.

The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late October.

Breast-health program

EAST PALESTINE — Toni Freer, a registered nurse in the Columbiana County Health Department, will present a program on breast health at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the East Palestine Memorial Public Library.

Information will be given on how to detect a lump, how to perform self-examination, when to start getting mammograms and how often the test is necessary.

The health department received a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure program, and information about the grant will be discussed.

Health fair in Niles

NILES — The Mayor Ralph A. Infante Wellness Center and local businesses will have a free health fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the wellness center, 213 Sharkey Drive in Waddell Park. It is open to anyone.

The fair will feature free health checks including bone density, spinal alignment, hearing, vision and more.

Cholesterol checks will cost $10, and diabetes testing will cost $5.
