Bergman items will go up for auction in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM — A writing desk, film cameras and Golden Globe awards belonging to Swedish film legend Ingmar Bergman are attracting a huge interest from collectors as they go up for auction in Stockholm.

Auction house Bukowskis says the 337 Bergman items for sale include the chess pieces most probably used in the director’s 1957 film “The Seventh Seal” and a 1960s portrait of Bergman by Irving Penn.

Bukowskis spokeswoman Charlotte Bergstrom says the auction, which is set for Sept. 28, has drawn such huge interest the limited-edition auction catalog has become a collector’s item in its own right.

2010 Tony Awards set

NEW YORK — Broadway’s fall shows haven’t even arrived yet but the date for the 2010 Tony Awards has been set — June 13 — at Radio City Music Hall.

Winners of awards honoring the best of the 2009-10 Broadway season will be announced during a live, three-hour telecast by CBS, 8-11 p.m.

The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, which present the show, say the cutoff for nomination eligibility will be April 29, 2010.

Oscar fans can try for a chance at bleacher seats

LOS ANGELES — Oscar fans can win a chance to be a part of the 82nd Academy Awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says fans can enter a lottery for bleacher seats alongside Oscar’s red carpet. The online lottery begins Monday and continues through Sept. 20.

Winners will be chosen at random for the 700 seats in front of the Kodak Theatre. Winners will be notified in October. The 82nd Academy Awards will be March 7, 2010.
