Yard-waste recycling options improve in Poland Township

STAFF REPORT

POLAND — A partnership between the village and the township has given residents a place to recycle yard waste without requiring the street department to pick it up.

The Poland Township Recycling Center, 7508 Clingan Road, was remodeled and reopened Wednesday and now includes a 20-foot rolling bin for village and township residents to recycle yard waste, said Joe Mazur, village council president.

Mazur said that the village’s street department will still pick up large waste, such as branches that fall during a storm, but that residents should take waste from regular yard work to the new bin.

Republic Services Inc. is supplying the bin for free, and CBS Topsoil Inc., 8415 South Ave., will empty it and compost the material, Mazur said.
