Seasons celebration

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host on a “Changing Seasons Celebration: Autumn Equinox: Harvesting Peace, Patience and Potatoes” program from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 20. The event will be at the woods pavilion and fire pit at the center.

Program leader will be Sister Barbara O’Donnell. Cost is $7 and registration is appreciated.

Flame fellowship

BOARDMAN — Greater Youngstown Chapter of Flame Fellowship, an interdenominational ministry, will meet Sept. 21 at the BCC Multi Purpose Room, formerly the Community Center, in Boardman Park. Fellowship will begin at 6:15 p.m. with the ministry at 6:30.

Guest speaker will be Rabbi Eric D. Lakatos of Tikvat Yisrael Messianic Jewish Synagogue in Lyndhurst. His topic will be “One New Man.”

First Friday Club

BOARDMAN — Richard Jusseaume, president of Walsh University, will speak on “Catholic College Students and the Church” when the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, Market Street. Gospel sing-along

GIRARD — A Gospel hymn sing-along is planned Sept. 19 at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts-Wick Road. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the music at 7.

New hymnals

HERMITAGE, Pa. — St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave., will dedicate new hymnals and pew Bibles as the church resumes worshipping at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Donors have contributed more than 250 copies of “Worship and Rejoice.” The church also added the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible, which was produced by the National Council of Churches.

A coffee-and-doughnuts reception at 10:30 will precede the worship service, and a free luncheon will follow at noon.

His Music Connection

GIRARD — His Music Connection will sponsor a concert Sept. 19 at the former Wellman Theater, 29 W. Liberty St. Performing will be Chris Mowery of Austintown and IHS of the Younsgtown-Warren area. Free food and beverages are available. A free-will offering is accepted.

In concert in N. Lima

NOTH LIMA — The John Glick Family Singers will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. John and Lanette Glick and their nine children present country and southern-style Gospel music.

A ham dinner is planned before the concert. It will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.; the cost is $8 for adults and $4 for those 3 to 10 years old. No reservations are required; there will be takeouts.

Revival set

YOUNGSTOWN — Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., will observe a revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday with guest revivalist the Rev. Larry Scott of Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Niles.

Monday night’s theme will be “Let Mount Zion Rejoice” with youth and praise teams, drill teams, mime ministries and choirs; Tuesday will be “Faithful Stewards” with Christian workers; and Wednesday, “Lord, Teach Us to Pray” for prayer intercessors’ night.

Church anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — The male chorus of Mount Zion Baptist Church, 827 Wilson Ave., will celebrate the 59th anniversary of the church during a program at 4 p.m. Sept. 20. Michael Swan of Akron will be a special guest with male choruses from Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Ushers association

YOUNGSTOWN — There will be a dedication service for the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association (ICUA) at 5 p.m. Sept. 20 at Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Avenue.

All churches and their usher ministries are invited to attend. The theme for the service is “Are There Any Faithful Ushers in the House?” All ushers are asked to come in their usher attire.

Prayer breakfast

YOUNGSTOWN — A pastors’ interfaith prayer breakfast is planned at 10 a.m. Sept. 19 at Friends House Chapel, 192 Hazeltine Ave., where Bishop Lillie North is pastor.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Levy Daugherty, ACLC executive adviser. The theme is “New Wineskins.” There is a $10 donation.

Pentecost in Perspective

YOUNGSTOWN — The Pentecost in Perspective International Leadership Conference is set for Tuesday through Friday at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, 260 Federal Plaza West.

The conference, called “Living in the In Time,” offers training for pastors, church leaders, heads of ministry, ministers, administrators and others.

Speakers include Bishop Norman L. Wagner of Calvary Ministries International, and Pastor Kimberly Ray, Dr. Carolyn Showell, Pastor C. Shawn Tyson, Bishop Iona Locke, Pastor Jamal H. Bryant and Dr. Juanita Bynum.
