Yoga classes at St. Joe’s

Heritage Day event at Hungarian club

YOUNGSTOWN — An annual Hungarian Heritage Day celebration will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Youngstown American Hungarian Club, 2219 Donald Ave. Featured will be authentic Hungarian folk art, music and ethnic food.

For dancing or listening, American and Hungarian music will be performed by a Cleveland band, The Hungarians.

Admission is $2, and there is ample secured parking.

New grief workshop at Villa Maria center

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — A new grief workshop, “Coping With Personal Loss and Grief,” will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center.

The presenter will be Tricia Leonard, a psychotherapist and holistic practitioner who specializes in post-traumatic stress. Also participating will be Barbara Lenarcic, who holds degrees in religious education and mental health counseling.

Fundraising dinner to help cancer patient, family

BOARDMAN — A fundraiser will take place at Antone’s Banquet Center from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday to benefit cancer patient Phil Panno and his family. Phil and his wife of 24 years, Mia, live in Boardman with their two children, Phillipp, 12, and Angelina, 10. The funds will help offset the cost of his treatment, his loss of income and related expenses.

Cooking school plans open house in Salem

SALEM — Ellen Conrad, one of the judges at the Hidden Valley Recipe contest at the Canfield Fair, is having an open house at her Country Cusine Cooking School, which is at her home, at 32288 Carey Road, Salem.

Historical walk planned at cemetery

MASSILLON — Residents will have an opportunity to learn local history on Sunday during a walk through Massillon Cemetery.

Margy Vogt will conduct the tour of the cemetery, which was founded in 1846, and the National Register residence, built in 1879.

AHA heart walk to be on YSU track

YOUNGSTOWN — More than 2,000 Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull County residents are expected to participate in the American Heart Association’s 2009 Start! Heart Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday on the track at Youngstown State University.

The walk will raise funds to support heart disease and stroke research and educational programs.
