The engagement of Heather Diane Smith, 122 S. Marcia Drive, Austintown, and Brian Michael Vail, 4984 E. Rockwell Road, Austintown, is announced by their parents, Curtis Smith, 8138 Highland Ave., Lordstown Village, and George and Janet Vail, 110 Edgewater Drive, Austintown.

Miss Smith, also a daughter of the late Jean Ann Smith, is a high school guidance counselor with Liberty Local Schools in Liberty Township. She graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in education and from Westminster College in New Wilmington with a master’s degree in education.

Mr. Vail earned a bachelor’s degree in applied science in criminal justice from Youngstown State University and is a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Canfield Post.

The couple will be married at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at St. James Meeting House in Boardman Township Park. Invitations will be issued for the ceremony and for an evening reception at The Georgetown in Boardman.
