Coalition yard sale

YOUNGSTOWN — The 7th Ward Citizens Coalition is having a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the old Big Lots Parking Lot at 886 E. Midlothian Blvd.

The proceeds benefit the scholarship fund and other neighborhood activities.

Garden Forum show

YOUNGSTOWN — A garden and horticulture show will be sponsored by the Garden Forum of Greater Youngstown Saturday and Sunday at the Davis Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, 123 McKinley Ave.

The public is invited to participate. The theme is “O Beautiful Harvest,” and entries will be accepted from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Blue ribbons in horticulture will be awarded.

Animal adoption

BOARDMAN — Animal Appeal, a pet education and rescue organization, will participate in the Adoptathon Weekend from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Petsmart in Boardman. An adoption fee will be charged. For more information call (330) 629-2479 or (724) 962-9284.

Stuffed cabbage dinners

CAMPBELL — St. John’s Catholic Church 159 Reed Ave., will sponsor a stuffed cabbage dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church hall. Donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Each additional cabbage roll will be $1.50. Patrons are asked to provide containers for takeouts.

Memory Walk planned

BOARDMAN — Home Instead Senior Care and the Alzheimer Association in Boardman are joining to sponsor the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk on Saturday at Boardman Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk is scheduled for 9:30.

Chicken dinners

LAKE MILTON — An annual chicken barbecue dinner will be served at Lake Milton Presbyterian Church, 942 Grandview Road, from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The menu will feature plain or barbecued chicken, parsley potatoes, side dishes, roll, homemade cake or pie and beverage. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Takeouts available.

Rummage sale

HERMITAGE, Pa. — A rummage sale will be sponsored by St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1159 Todd Ave., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Food and beverages will be available.

Dinners at church

YOUNGSTOWN — Phillips Chapel CME Church, 718 Albert St., will serve barbecued ribs and chicken dinners starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Dinners include two side dishes and dessert. Rib dinners are $10, and a sandwich is $7; and chicken dinners are $8, and a sandwich is $5.

Spaghetti supper

HERMITAGE, Pa. — The Ventur-ing Scouts Crew 726 will host a spaghetti supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ on Todd Avenue. Tickets are $6 per person or $20 per family. Children under 6 eat free.

Chrysanthemum sale

HERMITAGE, Pa. — The Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, 875 N. Hermitage Road, will host a chrysanthemum sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday. The 8-inch potted flowers will be $5 each. Advance orders can be e-mailed to Melissa Galaska at galaskams@upmc.edu.

No Lupus meeting

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Mercer County Lupus Support Group will not meet on Sept. 17. The next meeting will be Oct. 15 at UPMC Horizon Womancare Center.

The union is cooking

BOARDMAN — Union Counselors will donate their time and talents to cook pasta dinners to be served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Local 66 Operating Engineering Hall, 291 McClurg Road.

Meals include meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and coffee, and the cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Takeouts will be available.

There will also be a gift basket raffle and a 50-50 raffle.
