Many businesses plan to stay open during G-20 summit in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The security perimeters for the Group of 20 economic summit in Pittsburgh will be less restrictive than some locals had expected, prompting many businesses to decide to stay open.

Violin maker Phillip Injeian figures he might even pluck a customer or so from the thousands of visitors who will be in the city on Sept. 24-25.

His shop is located about a block from the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, where the summit will take place.

But not everyone is staying open.

Even if the Goodyear Auto Service Center wanted to remain open, manager Barry Slepsky says there’s no way his customers could get in. The shop is within the area off-limits to traffic.

He figures he may lose at least $10,000.
