CANFIELD AND AUSTINTOWN POLICE CALLS
A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:
CANFIELD
Aug. 29
Drug charges: Police arrested a 29-year-old Youngstown man on charges of drug paraphernalia, possession of dangerous drugs and also arrested a passenger in his car, a 19-year-old Youngstown man, for trafficking in marijuana at Fairground Boulevard and Surrey Lane. Suspected marijuana was found in the vehicle, along with Tramadol pills.
AUSTINTOWN
Aug. 31
Burglary: A 26-inch television and sound bar were taken from a home in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue.
Theft: A 1997 Ford F-250 was stolen from the front lot at Renu-Roofing, 168 S. Meridian Road.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle mirror was damaged at a home in the 3000 block of Redgate Lane.
Tobacco violation: Police issued a summons to a 14-year-old boy for smoking at Oakwood Avenue and North Edgehill Avenue.
Burglary: At an apartment in the 5000 block of South Raccoon Road.
Theft: A woman’s wallet and its contents were stolen at Marc’s, 4755 Mahoning Ave.
Sept. 1
Criminal damaging: The Mr. Rooter building, 5411 Mahoning Ave. was spray-painted.
Theft: A tube of Neosporin was stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Vollmer Drive.
Bad check: A counterfeit check was passed at Associated School Employees Credit Union, 1690 S. Canfield-Niles Road. The check was written against Wachovia bank.
Identity theft: A man reported that his identity had been stolen.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was given a “key job” at a home in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road.
Theft: A woman in the 1000 block of Elm Trace Street reported jewelry had been stolen from a safe at her home and $320 was withdrawn from a savings account she had at First Place Bank. She accused her daughter and gave police pictures taken by the bank surveillance camera showing her daughter going through the drive-through and making withdrawals.
Assault: A 12-year-old boy from the 2000 block of North Yorkshire Boulevard reported he was slapped in the face by another youth. He slapped the boy back, thinking he was joking, and the accused then punched him in the face.
Sept. 2
Disorderly conduct: A woman was arrested for disorderly conduct at O’Donold’s, 6000 Mahoning Ave.
Drug offense: A Youngstown man was issued a summons for drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia at state Route 11 and Mahoning Avenue
Theft of service: The victim’s trash bin was filled with trash by unknown suspects at JJL Packaging, L.L.C., 5699 W. Webb Road.
Theft: A debit card was stolen from an auto in the driveway of a home in the 4000 block of South Warwick Drive and was used at an ATM.
Passing bad checks: Bad checks for $3,374 were passed at Gemstone Memorials, 8 N. Raccoon Road.
Breaking and entering: A vacant apartment was entered in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.
Menacing: A man was a victim of menacing after another man repeatedly threatened to beat him up at Jamestown Industries, 650 N. Meridian Road.
Criminal damaging: Four outside decorative lights were damaged in the front yard of a home in the 1000 block of Laurie Drive.
Theft: A credit card, Social Security card and keys were reported stolen in the township.
Recovered property: Belongings left in a vehicle, including a birth certificate and Social security number were recovered at Austintown Auto Sales, 5275 Mahoning Ave.
Abandoned trailer: An abandoned 53-foot trailer was towed at Fyda Freightliners, 5260 Seventy-Six Drive.
Criminal mischief: A woman was accused of menacing a female patron and entering her vehicle and defacing the inside of it at Starbucks, 851 N. Niles-Canfield Road.
Attempted burglary: Attempted entry was made at the front door at a home in the 200 block of Westminister Avenue.
Drug offense: A Canfield man was arrested for possession of marijuana at a home in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road.
Criminal damaging: Two garage door windows were broken out at a home in the 200 block of South Main Street.
Fraud: An unauthorized online purchase was reported a home in the 6000 block of Heron Circle.
Sept. 3
Assault: Two employees of Rossi Painting were involved in an altercation and one assaulted the other at the Drywall Barn, 408 N. Meridian Road.
Drug offense: An Austintown man was arrested on charges of drug abuse, and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a marijuana pipe and marijuana on him. He was released on a summons in the 1000 block of South Edgehill Avenue.
Theft: A Campbell woman was arrested for theft of miscellaneous items, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of dangerous drugs, including two Tramadol pills and a younger female from Campbell was released to her parent at Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Ave.
Telecommunications harassment: A man is a suspect in telecommunications harassment at an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.
Menacing: Threats were made by a co-worker at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.
Drug offense: An Austintown man was arrested for drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a marijuana pipe and marijuana and released on a summons at Woodleigh Lane and Woodleigh Court.
Theft: An Ipod and a GPS were taken from an auto at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.
Sept. 4
Theft: At Gateways, 230 Idaho Road.
Theft: A male roommate is a suspect in a theft at Fox Run, 1184 N. Meridian Road.
Telecommunications harassment: Unwanted text messages were reported in the township.
Theft: Money was stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Maple Springs Drive.
Identity theft: A commercial gas account was set up in the victim’s name at Moss Brothers, 5011 Mahoning Ave.
Criminal mischief: Powder was thrown onto a vehicle at Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road.
Assault: A man is a suspect in an assault at Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road.
Sept. 5
Weapons offense: A Youngstown man was arrested for possession of a .38-caliber pistol and on drug charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia and a marijuana grinder in the 1000 block of South Raccoon Road.
Personal injury: A 35-year-old man was found injured and semiconscious at the Sleep Inn, 5555 Interstate Boulevard, and later died at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center.
Theft: Fifty bronze vases were stolen at Green Haven Cemetery, 3495 S. Canfield-Niles Road.
Theft: A tailgate was stolen from Austintown Auto, 5275 Mahoning Ave.
Burglary: There were no signs of forced entry but a 9mm Jennings revolver was stolen at a home in the 6000 block of Purdue Avenue.
Theft: A purse was stolen at Taco Bell, 850 N. Canfield-Niles Road.
Disturbance: A total of 15 girls were involved in a fight at the Wedgewood Plaza parking lot, South Raccoon Road.
Theft: Miscellaneous items were taken from a car at a home in the 200 block of South Edgehill Avenue.
Liquor violation: A summons was issued to the bar manager at BW-3’s, 6000 Mahoning Ave.
Fraud: Numerous charges were made on a stolen credit card at various businesses in the township.
Theft: Jewelry was stolen from an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at a home in the 80 block of North Main Street.
