CAMPBELL — The Archangel Michael Greek Food Fest, one of the most popular ethnic festivals in the Valley, returns next weekend.

The church is at 401 Twelfth St. in the center of Campbell, home to the area’s largest Greek population. Hours are noon to 10 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sept. 13.

Greek delicacies and exotic pastries will be offered in an outdoor “taverna” atmosphere, amidst the sound of bouzouki music.

Dancing in authentic costumes will be demonstrated and gifts can be purchased in the Grecian Village. The church will be open for tours beginning at 3 p.m. each day.

Classic Greek dishes — including moussaka (baked eggplant with meat filling), pastitso (baked macaroni with meat filing), lemon chicken, spanakopita (filo pastry filled with spinach and feta cheese), fish plaki (baked fish), souvlaki (shish ke bob), fila (stuffed grape leaves) and gyros — will be available.

The pastry shop will feature baklava (layered filo with nuts and honey), galatoboureko (filo dough filled with custard), kourambiedes (butter cookies with powdered sugar) and finikia (cookies dipped in honey).

All foods are prepared from scratch in the church kitchen.

Deliveries are available to businesses only. Call (330) 755-3596.

Traditional Greek folk dances will be performed by parish children and young adults dressed in authentic regional folk costumes. Guests dancers from St. Haralambos Church in Canton will dance at 6 p.m. Sunday wearing the traditional Greek soldier costumes.

The Athenian Dancers from the Ahepa chapter Maids of Athena will also perform, as will The Grecian Odyssey Dancers from Archangel Michael’s sister parish of Ypapanti in Pittsburgh. The Grecian Odyssey Dancers have entertained dignitaries such as the Ecumenical Patriarch, Metropolitan Maximos of Pittsburgh; as well as the president and members of Congress.
