YSU falls to Pittsburgh, 38-3

PITTSBURGH — Once again, Youngstown State football team found out there is still a pretty good distance between teams from the Football Bowl Subdivision and teams from the Football Championship Subdivision.

The Penguins had some high hopes going into Saturday’s season opener against the University of Pittsburgh, but the Panthers once again dominated the contest before walking away with a 38-3 victory.

YSU head coach Jon Heacock was disappointed but hasn’t given up on his team this season.

“The penalties were disappointing and some of the mistakes we made, but I still like this team and I still feel very good about them,” Heacock said.
