Scrappers win 7-5, tie franchise mark with 48th victory

NILES — Jesus Brito hit a run-scoring triple to break a tie and Ben Carlson’s sacrifice fly added an insurance run in the seventh inning, as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers won a wild 7-5 game over the Jamestown Jammers in the New York-Penn League on Friday.

Brito went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs for the Scrappers (48-26), who tied the club record for victories in a season.

The Scrappers have two games remaining, today and Sunday against State College, and will open the playoffs on Tuesday.
