AUSTINTOWN — The second edition of “More Paw Prints” cookbook is being sold by Second Chance Animal Rescue. The book contains 350 recipes submitted by volunteers and friends of the animal shelter.
The book can be ordered by calling the shelter (330) 505-2575. The cost is $10 plus $3.50 shipping charge. Or books can be picked up at the booth at Whitehouse Fruit Farm Craft Show Sept. 19 and 20. Proceeds benefit the shelter.
Salem Historical Society to feature Joan Witt
SALEM — The Salem Historical Society will offer a timely program at its public meeting on Tuesday. Joan Witt, a retired educator from East Liverpool, will present a program on “One-Room Schools of Columbiana County.”
This informative program will follow the 7 p.m. business meeting. The museum is located at 208 S. Broadway Ave. Visitors are asked to use the East Alley entrance.
Witt is well-versed in the subject after spending many years researching the history of early education in the county. She is active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, having served as regent, secretary and registrar. Among many other interests, she also serves on the Ohio board as volunteer genealogist and lineage research chair.
She has been active in the East liverpool Historical Society, is president of the Quota Club and is a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
The public is welcome to the meeting. Carol Horton and Twila Lora will be hostesses, and David Shivers will be the greeter. For more information, call the society at (330) 337-8514.
Sit-n-sew event open to the public
WARREN — Niles Chapter of the American Sewing Guild will host a sit-n-sew event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at Central Christian Church, Nonmembers, regardless of skill levels, are welcome. Those who can’t sew can cut.
Participants are asked to take a machine, cutting mats and basic sewing supplies. The group will sew wheelchair and walker bags to be distributed to area nursing homes. For more information call (330) 847-7549.
