Police investigate toddler’s drowning in northwestern, Pa.

ALBION, Pa. (AP) — Police are trying to figure out how a toddler wandered away from a family gathering and drowned in a northwestern Pennsylvania pond.

Authorities have not released the name of the 2-year-old boy was found in the pond about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in Conneaut Township. The boy was pronounced dead at Hamot Medical Center in Erie before midnight.

The boy was at a relative’s home for a family gathering when he somehow got into the pond.

The Erie County Coroner also is investigating.
