A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:

HUBBARD

Aug. 29

Criminal mischief: A Stewart Avenue man said two people jumped a fence to a nearby playground and knocked over equipment, though police found no damage.

Theft: Money was removed from vending machines at a West Liberty Street business.

Criminal damaging: A man in the 30 block of West Liberty Street detained a 9-year-old boy he said had thrown something at his truck.

Aggravated menacing: A Franklin Avenue man reported having been chased by someone in a truck because he had honked at another vehicle.

Aug. 31

Menacing: An official with Reed Middle School, 150 Hall Ave., told police of hearing about a conversation in which a man said he wanted to hit his son’s teacher.

Domestic violence: A township man was charged after his wife reported being a victim.

Sept. 1

Fraud: A Gary Drive woman told officers she paid a company $2,700 to perform work at her residence that was never completed.

GIRARD

Aug. 31

Possible burglary: Officers pulled over a vehicle near Ward Avenue, where a man said he and another person had been part of a burglary in Weathersfield Township. Police could not confirm his story, however, because they were unable to contact the homeowners, though authorities did seize a 12-gauge shotgun, a crossbow, two hunting knives and other items. An investigation is pending.

Aggravated menacing: A man police had stopped near North Highland Avenue for a traffic violation received a cell-phone call from someone who threatened to kill him.

Attempted theft: An employee with a U.S. Route 422 business reported someone tried to steal a company-owned truck.

Theft: A woman reported a china set, a porcelain- doll collection, a vacuum, a stainless-steel pot and a jacket stolen from her home in the 300 block of East Prospect Street.

Theft: A laptop computer, a Wii game system and a printer/scanner were taken from a home in the 200 block of East Main Street.

Weapon: A Girard man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon after having been pulled over for speeding on Route 422. He admitted having a switchblade knife in the car, police said.

Sept. 1

Theft: A Girard woman reported the theft of her 8-year-old son’s bicycle.

Theft: Someone stole a motorcycle and an all-terrain vehicle, worth a total $6,000, from a garage on East Kline Street.

Breaking and entering: A garage on Louis Circle was entered and a lawn mower stolen.

Arrest: A Girard man faced charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing after police received a report of someone banging on the door to a Park Avenue apartment and creating a disturbance. The intoxicated man left but returned later and refused to leave, a report said.

Sept. 2

Threats: A Morris Avenue woman said her former husband had threatened to kill her as part of a property dispute between the two.

LIBERTY

Aug. 29

Theft: A $200 XM satellite radio was taken from a vehicle on Leopard Way.

Theft: A push mower and a gas-powered leaf blower were stolen from a garage in the 1700 block of Naylor-Lloyd Road.

Domestic violence: Police charged a 38-year-old man and a woman, 43, after a situation at their Logan Way residence. Police found two large scratches on the man’s chest; the woman alleged he pulled her from a vehicle and dragged her on their driveway.

Theft: Police charged a Youngstown man, 20, with theft and obstructing justice after $17 worth of merchandise had been stolen from Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road. The man also provided a false Social Security number, a report said.

Aug. 30

Theft: Four males left Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., without paying a $40 food bill.

Domestic violence: Police charged a 33-year-old township man with striking a family member in the face during an argument. The accuser had swelling to her upper lip.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Logan Gate Road man reported an 18-year-old woman borrowed but failed to return his 2002 Chevrolet Impala.

Aug. 31

Arrest: Authorities went to a Frederick Street apartment to serve a warrant against a 26-year-old man who was charged with criminal trespassing, carrying a concealed weapon and theft.

Drugs: A Campbell man, 26, was charged with possession of marijuana during a traffic stop on state Route 193. A suspected marijuana cigar and a bag with suspected marijuana residue were found, police said.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a Belmont Avenue store received two calls containing threats to kill him.

Theft: A woman’s purse was stolen as she patronized a Goldie Road business.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Rent-A-Center, 2718 Belmont Ave., and disabled the phone lines before taking an undisclosed number of laptop computers, TVs, video games and cameras.

Sept. 1

Arrest: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to the arrest of a 55-year-old city man wanted on a warrant. He also was charged with obstructing official business when, police said, he gave a phony name.

Theft: Two Niles women, 21 and 23, were charged in the theft of two pairs of sunglasses and two hats from Wal-Mart.

Aggravated menacing: An Oakland Avenue man who had been assaulted told police he fears for his safety because he got word that the 34-year-old man who hit him might have a firearm and was inquiring about where he lives.

Theft: Two Youngstown girls, 15 and 16, were charged, accused of stealing $34 worth of cosmetics from Wal-Mart.
