Historical markers
CANFIELD — The fairgrounds will be honored with a historical marker during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
At 10 a.m. today the Canfield Fair, Canfield Village Cemetery and Dean Hill Cemetery will be presented with the markers, which enable Ohioans to commemorate and celebrate local history.
The markers are sponsored by the Canfield Historical Society and funded by the Robert H. and Maxine D. Neff family, who are descendants of Canfield’s pioneer settlers.
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland will speak at the ceremony, and state Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Canfield, D-33rd, will also attend.
MCCTC demonstrations
CANFIELD — The students at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center have become the teachers.
Fairgoers can stop by the Education Building each day from 1 to 3 p.m. to watch demonstrations the students and instructors will give from various programs.
Today is the culinary arts program; Friday is child care; Saturday is building maintenance; and Sunday is exercise science.

Senior Day seminar
CANFIELD — Ohio State University Extension and the Canfield Fair are offering a Senior Day seminar Friday.
Session will begin at 9 a.m. at the Expo Building and will provide awareness and information about various services Mahoning County offers its senior citizens.
Seminar topics include senior awareness in Mahoning County, senior safety, senior watch program, the lifeline program, senior safety on the roads, recycling, elder fraud and consumer awareness.
The Mahoning County commissioners will be on hand at 9:45 a.m. to talk about some of these services.
Harmony Bridge will provide music and the Heritage Lace Guild will give demonstrations throughout the day.
