BCCC hires dean of nursing, academic assessment official
BUTLER, Pa. — Butler County Community College has a new dean of nursing and a new coordinator of academic assessment.
Patricia Mihalcin, former division chairwoman of Nursing and Allied Health at Westmoreland County Community College, has taken on the duties as dean of nursing.
Marc Kellner, former senior member of the technical staff for the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, is the new coordinator of academic assessment.
Mihalcin earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.
In addition to WCCC, she was employed as a professor at La Roche College, Duquesne University, The Pennsylvania State University and Waynesburg University and served as the director of student affairs at Duquesne University’s School of Nursing. She also served as the Assistant Director of Nursing at McKeesport and Shadyside Hospitals.
Kellner earned two bachelor’s degrees, two master’s degrees and his doctoral degree, all from Carnegie Mellon University.
He is an applied researcher, educator and consultant with expertise in the fields of software engineering, information systems and software system management.
He has authored scholarly technical publications and is a college instructor at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
In addition, he has experience as a continuing education trainer, course developer and curriculum designer.
