FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

• Benjamin Firestone Post 290 of the American Legion in Columbiana has its kitchen open to the public Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and features daily specials. Friday, there will be a fish fry from 4-7 p.m., all you can eat for $10, adults, $4 for 12 and under. The meal includes mac and cheese, fries, coleslaw dessert and coffee or tea.

• Southington United Methodist Church, state Route 305 and 534, will serve chicken dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Meals include scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. The cost is $7.50 for adults. Meals of chicken tenders for children 4 through 10 are $4. Those 3 and under eat free. Carryouts available. Call (330) 898-2156 and they will be ready for pickup.

THURSDAY

• Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman Poland Road, Poland, will have take-out dinners available from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) the first Thursday of each month. The cost is $6. No need to preorder or get out of the car. Just drive to the front of the church and your meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.

FRIDAY

• American Legion F.D.R. Post 560, 103 12th St., Campbell, will serve fish or shrimp dinners from noon to 6 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Meals include macaroni and cheese or french fries, coleslaw or haluski, and bread and butter. Desserts and beverages available. There will be a 50-50 raffle. • Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.

• St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

• Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., will sell takeout homemade chili from 4 to 6 p.m. Quart containers of chili are $5 each or 2 for $9, and pints are $3. Preorders are not necessary. Drive to the front of the church and chili will be delivered to your car.

TAKING ORDERS

• First United Methodist Church, 3711 state Route 46, Mineral Ridge, will be taking orders for homemade plain, powdered sugar or granulated sugar doughnuts for Sept. 12. Orders will be accepted at (330) 652-9554 until Sept. 11.

UPCOMINg

• Campbell City Fest Committee will sponsor a chicken and ribs dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at the American Legion F.D.R .Post 560 hall 103 12th St., Campbell. The cost is $12 and meals include potato, baked beans, salad, roll and butter. Refreshments and desserts will be available. The presale of tickets will end Sept. 4. • Mount Olivet Church, 310 W. South Range Road, North Lima, will have dinners of barbecued chicken, roast potatoes, coleslaw or applesauce, fruit, cookie and beverages from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 13. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for those under 12.

• Pricetown Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, will serve spaghetti dinners from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9. Meals include salad, bread, homemade desserts and beverages. The cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and under. Carryouts will be available.

• The Rotary Club of Champion will sponsor an all-you-can-eat buffet-style Amish dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 26. Featured will be chicken, roast beef, stuffing, real mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade bread, green beans, coleslaw and desserts. The cost is $12 for those 13 and older; $6 for children 6 to 12; and free for those 5 and under. To avoid disappointment, purchase tickets in advance at Sharon Uni-Mart BP or Huntington Bank.
