COLUMBIA, S.C. — Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez has been sued in federal court by a bank claiming he failed to pay back millions on a loan for a struggling Virginia condominium project, according to court documents.
The suit — filed Aug. 13 in U.S. District Court in Spartanburg, S.C., and served on Rodriguez at his Ann Arbor, Mich., office last week — says the coach owes a bank $3.9 million for defaulting on a loan to build condos near Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va.
Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, Okla. — Sophomore tight end Jamal Mosley has left the team a week after a woman filed for a protective order against him.
Coach Mike Gundy cited only personal reasons Tuesday as he announced Mosley’s departure. Gundy said he would not comment further.
According to documents on the Oklahoma State Courts Network Web site, a woman filed for a protective order against Mosley last Tuesday in Payne County. Her request was granted and Mosley was served with the order the next day. A hearing is scheduled for today.
Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Lane Kiffin doesn’t mind the speaking engagements, the breakfasts with boosters and pep rallies.
But Tennessee’s coach loves most what’s he doing right now — shutting out everything but football.
“Today, we get to shut the door,” the Volunteers’ first-year coach said. “From early this morning until when the players get here, there’s no distractions. It’s football time.”
The coaching staff is still drawing up a game plan for Saturday’s opener against Western Kentucky and still must decide who will start at a few of Tennessee’s most competitive positions.
