Ohio Marine dies supporting combat in Afghanistan

ELYRIA (AP) — The Pentagon says a Marine from northeast Ohio has died supporting combat in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense says 31-year-old Lance Cpl. David R. Hall of Elyria died Monday while supporting combat operations in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province. U.S. forces are challenging Taliban insurgents in the region.

The Pentagon didn’t detail how he died.

Hall was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
