Mosaic of mugs puts a face on fairgoers
EXPRESSIONISM: This work of art, titled “Faces of the Fair,” comprises images of nearly 1,600 people who attended the fair last year. Large posters will be displayed so this year’s fair patrons can search for their faces.
CANFIELD — At last year’s Canfield Fair, the staff at the Fine Arts Building photographed almost 1,600 fairgoers for a montage paying tribute to those who love the fair.
Staffers not only snapped people who entered the building — they also hit the midways, making stops at the fair office, the maintenance and international buildings, 4-H barns, media tents, Western Reserve Village and more.
The photos have come together into a large poster titled “Faces of the Fair.” Maybe your own image is among the 2000 photos in the final work of art.
Large posters will be displayed at the Arts and Crafts and Fine Arts buildings, so that fair patrons can search for their faces and those of their family and friends. Postcards of the image will be for sale at the FA building for those eager to have a keepsake.
With the fair board’s blessings, photographing for next year’s montage has already begun. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
The ongoing project will be a lasting chronicle of Canfield Fair patrons throughout the years.
