BOARDMAN POLICE CALLS


A summary of recent criminal activity in Boardman:

Aug. 28

Burglary: To a residence in the 1300 block of Valley View Drive via a rear door. Stolen were $1,750 and numerous jewelry items.

Burglary: At a Hillman Way apartment, where a $1,100 flat-screen TV, 50 DVDs and two video games were taken.

Theft: A 36-year-old township man was accused of failing to return a $1,140 computer to Eagle Rental Purchase Inc., 6132 Market St., in accordance with the agreement.

Theft/damage: Someone broke a vehicle’s window at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery and stole a $200 global-positioning system unit.

Theft: A Poland woman learned that someone had withdrawn $300 from her account from an automated-teller machine at a Boardman-Canfield Road bank.

Breaking and entering: A padlock was cut on a shed in the 500 block of West Glen Drive. A lawn mower bag attachment and a metal drill were missing.

Breaking and entering: Someone pried open a shed in the backyard of a West Boulevard residence, though nothing appeared to have been taken.

Theft: A Boardman woman found $6,000 worth of unauthorized charges after someone had apparently gained access to her credit-card account via the Internet.

Theft: A township man stopped making payments on and failed to return a three-piece bedroom set to Eagle Rental Purchase Inc.

Drugs: A Niles woman, 35, was charged with possession of drugs and counterfeit drugs, both misdemeanors, after being pulled over on U.S. Route 224. A bottle contained seven types of pills other than those prescribed, a report said.

Arrest: A 24-year-old Berlin Center woman was arrested on felony warrants from the township charging her with receiving stolen property and forgery.

Domestic violence: A 31-year-old man and a woman, 26, were taken into custody at their Erskine Avenue home and charged. The woman was accused of having pushed and punched the man during an argument; the male had tried to harm himself and pulled the hair of another family member who tried to intervene, a report showed.

Aug. 29

Burglary: To a Cook Avenue apartment, at which a guitar, a guitar case and a bass amplifier were stolen.

Theft: Three females, age 14 to 19, were charged in the theft of $332 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall. A Youngstown woman, 37, was charged with obstructing official business when, police said, she provided false information.

Theft: Police conducted a vehicle check in the 7000 block of Market Street and took into custody a 22-year-old Canfield man wanted on a warrant from the township.

Theft: A GPS, a Bluetooth device, three phone cards and a leather briefcase were stolen from a car in the 8400 block of Hitchcock Road. The homeowner later found the briefcase, however.

Domestic violence: A 17-year-old South Schenley Avenue boy was picked up at his residence. He was wanted on an order of apprehension issued by the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown.

Theft: Two MP3 players were stolen from a vehicle in the 600 block of Angiline Drive.

Attempted theft: Someone removed part of a vehicle’s dashboard at a Boardman-Canfield Road business, possibly in an effort to steal the car or a radio.

Theft: An undisclosed amount of money was missing from a safe at Taco Bell, 940 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 7 led to the arrest of a 22-year-old city man wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Misuse of a credit card: a Youngstown woman found that $75 worth of unauthorized transactions had been made with her credit card at a Market Street gas station.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 800 block of Moyer Avenue had a tire slashed, resulting in a $150 damage estimate.

Aug. 30

Burglary: To a home in the 8500 block of Ivy Hill Drive through a rear door. Jewelry was stolen.

Theft: A $220 cell phone was stolen from Alltel Wireless, 474 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A GPS was taken from a car in the 400 block of Melbourne Avenue.

Burglary: Someone kicked open the front door to a Becky Court apartment.

Theft: Four speakers, a power inverter and an MP3 player were removed from a vehicle in the 600 block of Cathy Ann Drive.

Aug. 31

Arrest: A 36-year-old Columbus man was arrested during a traffic stop on Mathews Road when officers learned he was wanted by Youngstown authorities on a charge of failure to comply with police.

Possible theft: A wallet was lost or stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.

Arrest: Police ran the license plate of a vehicle at a Route 224 fast-food restaurant, where they arrested a Youngstown man, 27, wanted on a charge of aggravated menacing.

Robbery: An elderly Washington Boulevard man told police he had been robbed twice by the same woman. In the latest incident, the female came to his residence and asked him for money, then held him down when he refused to comply before she took $70 from his wallet, a report said.

Theft: A city woman, 34, was charged after $16 worth of merchandise was stolen from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Criminal mischief: Eggs were thrown at a residence and two vehicles on Quail Court.

Counterfeit: A phony $100 bill was used to pay for merchandise at Trade Secret in the Southern Park Mall.

Identity fraud: A Squirrel Hill Drive man told police he received a call from a woman claiming she needed to verify his account information, which he later suspected was part of a scam. Nevertheless, the man later discovered fraudulent charges had been made in New Jersey with his information.

Theft: A city man, 36, was charged, accused of stealing six articles of clothing from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Forgery: An East Liverpool man reported his signature had been forged on a car title at a Market Street dealership.

Theft: A woman at a Marwood Circle business realized $215 had been taken from her purse.

Theft/damage: Someone broke into a car at a Boardman-Poland Road store, then took a 7-inch TV/compact-disc/MP3 player combination.

Theft/criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 900 block of Windham Court was entered. Stolen was an AM/FM in-dash stereo.

Breaking and entering: A set of bolt cutters was used to remove a lock and enter a shed in the 200 block of Forest Park Drive.

Theft/damage: Someone broke a car window in the 1400 block of Boardman-Poland Road. A $250 GPS was missing.

Theft: A vehicle’s front license plate was removed in the 7400 block of South Avenue.

Sept. 1

Criminal damaging: A knife or screwdriver was used to flatten two tires on a car in the 4200 block of Hillman Way.
