Harding students arrested after scuffle
WARREN — An fight involving an estimated eight students at Warren G. Harding High School after school Tuesday led to several arrests, according to school officials and city police.
“After school Tuesday, several students chose to try to settle an ongoing, non-school-related issue on the grounds of Warren G. Harding High School. In order to help the high school staff maintain safety on our campus, police were called for support. Several students who failed to respond to law enforcement directives were arrested and also will be subject to district policy. Setting this incident aside, we have had an extremely positive opening of the 2009-10 school year,” Aaron Schwab, schools communications coordinator, said in a prepared statement.
City police said some of the students involved were incarcerated at the Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center and others were released to their parents.
No serious injuries were reported. Police said a report on the incident is being prepared by Warren police assigned as school resource officers.
