A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:
CANFIELD
Aug. 21
Theft: A woman reported that her purse had been stolen in the parking lot of Giant Eagle, 525 E. Main St., and $135 stolen. Video surveillance showed the male parking-lot attendant standing over the purse in a cart and then standing over a trash receptacle where the woman found her purse, with everything in it but her money. Police arrested the man and charged him with theft and made him return the $99 in cash that he had not spent. He spent the other money on a pizza and carton of cigarettes.
Aug. 24
Theft: An SX Model electric guitar with a cherry wood finish and pearl inlay and a black digital camera were reported stolen at Royal Park Apartment complex, 90 N. Broad St.
Aug. 26
Drugs, paraphernalia: Police arrested a 38-year-old Kensington, Ohio, man and a 36-year-old Columbiana woman on drug charges in a vehicle located at Mahoning County Court No. 5, 72 N. Broad St. Police found a crack pipe, syringe, heroin, small plastic bag of suspected heroin, a silver crack pipe, a glass crack pipe, two hypodermic syringes and a silver spoon containing suspected heroin residue. Both were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing drug abuse instruments, drug abuse and obtaining and possessing drugs.
AUSTINTOWN
Aug. 24
Fraud: A woman in the 1000 block of Idaho Road ordered Michael Jackson shirts over the internet and $44 was withdrawn from her Seven Seventeen bank account to pay for them, but she never received the shirts. She learned the company did not exist, but received an e-mail from an individual asking if her shirts had arrived.
Assault: A man was arrested for assaulting another man at a home in the 400 block of Wilcox Road. The victim called police from St. Elizabeth Health Center to report his injuries after being beaten up by the other man.
Theft: Meat, wine and pop were stolen at Giant Eagle, 5220 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A Hewlett Packard computer tower was left for repairs and never returned at Bits, Bytes and Pieces, Inc., 3710 Mahoning Ave.
Criminal damaging: A window on a sliding glass door was shattered at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.
Theft: A .32-caliber pistol was stolen at a home in the 4000 block of Westgate Boulevard.
Lost or stolen wallet: A men’s wallet with a Mahoning County Sheriff’s office badge was stolen or lost in the 1000 block of South Meridian Road.
Criminal damaging: A garage was damaged by a male suspect at a home in the 4000 block of Forest Hill Drive.
Assault: A man is a suspect in an assault on a woman at an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West Apartments. Police photographed scratches and bruises on the woman’s arms and neck after she left the hospital and reported the incident at the police station.
Burglary: A garage and shed were broken into at a home in the 4000 block of Norquest Boulevard.
Aug. 25
Assault: A man is the suspect for assault on a woman at an apartment in the 300 block of Wilcox Road. The suspect was arrested based on outstanding warrants.
Theft: A global-positioning system was stolen from an auto in the parking lot at Integrity Remodelers, 110 Javit Court.
Aggravated menacing: A man is accused of threatening a woman at a home in the 200 block of Elm Trace Street.
Theft: $25.82 in fuel was stolen at Country Fair, 1143 N. Niles-Canfield Road.
Menacing: A woman is a suspect in menacing at Weston Center, 5533 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A car was broken into at apartments in the 1000 block of Fountain Square.
Burglary: An Xbox and debit card were stolen from an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West apartments.
Theft: Household items and jewelry were stolen from a home in the 4000 block of North Warwick Drive.
Disorderly conduct: A man was arrested for disorderly conduct on Mahoning Avenue.
Aug. 26
Theft: An iPod was stolen from a home in the 4000 block of Pembrook Road.
Burglary: A man is a suspect in a burglary at a home in the 3000 block of Rebecca Drive.
Aug. 27
Theft: A man is accused of theft at a home in the 3000 block of Bryant Drive.
Theft: A flower pot was stolen at a home in the 5000 block of Lou Ida Boulevard.
Receiving stolen property: A man was arrested for receiving stolen property at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.
Theft: Two cell phones were stolen from a vehicle at a home in the 3000 block of Bryant Drive.
Criminal damaging: Damage to the vinyl siding on a house and the garage door was reported at a home in the 1000 block of Wilcox Road.
Identity theft: A man was arrested for identity theft by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s department and brought to Austintown police station.
Theft: $21.07 in fuel was stolen from UniMart, 890 N. Niles-Canfield Road.
Drug offense: Police arrested a Warren man for obstructing official business, drug possession and drug paraphernalia. Police found a white plastic bag with a prescription bottle containing a clear liquid, a shoestring and two used syringes. A passenger in the car, his father, also was arrested on outstanding warrants.
Theft: A woman was arrested at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave., for theft and menacing and warrants for probation violation and failure to appear.
Aug. 28
Open container: A man was issued a summons for a liquor violation at Javit Court and Mahoning Avenue.
Theft: A computer, briefcase and GPS were stolen from an auto parked at a home in the 4000 block of South Raccoon Road.
Theft: Numerous items were stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Claridge Drive.
Disorderly conduct: A man was arrested for disorderly conduct and released with a summons at Bill’s Place, 4771 Mahoning Ave.
Theft: A theft was reported at a home in the 1000 block of Rosemont Avenue.
Theft: A woman was arrested for complicity in a theft at Mahoning Avenue and Meridian Road.
Aug. 29
Telecommunications harassment: A man was making unwanted phone calls to a home in the 200 block of Carnegie Avenue.
Curfew violation: Two 13-year-old females were issued a summons for curfew violation at Meridian Road and Burkey Road.
Theft: Eighteen assorted rings valued at $9,000 were stolen at Austintown Pawn, 3700 Mahoning Ave.
Breaking and entering: A window was entered but nothing was taken at Davis Elementary School, 4302 Maple Ave.
Theft: Drugs were taken at an apartment in the 1000 block of North Meridian Road.
Menacing: A male threatened to damage a vehicle at a home in the 4000 block of New Road.
Aug. 30
Telecommunications harassment: A woman reported harassing phone calls by her soon-to-be ex-husband at a home in the 4000 block of Westgate Boulevard.
Theft: A cell phone was taken from a home in the 5000 block of Tulane Avenue.
