ANNAPOLIS, Md. — 1st Lt. Kaitlin Kempe of Carlsbad, Calif., and Ensign Stephen Koplin of Bethesda, Md., were married June 20 at the United States Naval Academy Chapel.

The bride is a daughter of Richard and Susan Kempe of Austintown. Edward and Mary Beth Koplin of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., are the groom’s parents.

The bride’s strapless lace gown featured a sweetheart neckline and trumpet skirt.

Maid of honor was Lieutenant junior grade Lauren McCabe, and bridesmaids were Lt. j.g. Ruth Roberson, Lt. j.g. Lori Simerly, Katie Miklas and Diana Hibbs. Flower girl was the bride’s cousin, Skylar Weiser.

Jason Koplin performed the duties of best man for his brother, and serving as groomsmen were Lt. j.g. Austin Henne, Lt. j.g. Adam Bosma, Lt. j.g. Mark Rothstedt and Lt. j.g. Josh Lebennson.

The bride is a first lieutenant with the U.S. Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. She graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor’s degree in history.

Her husband, an ensign with the U.S. Navy, is in his third year of medical school at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the U.S. Naval Academy.
