Warhol self-portrait will be auctioned

NEW YORK — Sotheby’s is auctioning a self-portrait by Andy Warhol that was recently found after being forgotten in a closet in New York City for more than 40 years.

The painting belongs to Cathy Naso. She was 17 years old when she got a part-time job as a receptionist at Warhol’s Factory. Two years later, in 1967, Warhol gave her a self-portrait inscribed to her.

The auction house estimates it will sell for $1 million or more.

Child-labor issue halts purchase of blueberries

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wal-Mart, Kroger and Meijer are suspending business with a large southwestern Michigan blueberry grower after investigators found children as young as 6 working in the grower’s fields.

The retailers said Friday they have stopped buying products from Adkin Blue Ribbon Blueberry Co. near South Haven.

The U.S. Department of Labor says its investigators found four children working in Adkin’s fields July 8. At least two were under 12, including the 6-year-old.

Billionaire investor supports CIT plan

NEW YORK — Commercial lender CIT Group Inc. said Friday that billionaire investor and bondholder Carl Icahn agreed to support the company’s restructuring plan amid reports CIT may soon file for bankruptcy protection.

Icahn also agreed to provide CIT with a $1 billion line of credit.
