YOUNGSTOWN — A 22-year-old city man is in Mahoning County jail charged in the robbery of a South Side convenience store.
Durrell McCall, 22, of Ferndale Avenue, appeared for arraignment Thursday before Judge Elizabeth Kobly of Youngstown Municipal Court on one count of aggravated robbery. Prosecutors told the court McCall had no prior criminal record.
Judge Kobly set McCall’s bond at $50,000. He is due back in her court Nov. 6.
According to police, McCall was one of three armed men who stormed into Conroy’s Party Shop on Glenwood Avenue on Oct. 10. Two employees inside the store ran out of the business upon seeing the armed men come in.
Police watched surveillance video of the three men coming into the store brandishing guns, then stealing the cash register and lottery machine before running out of the business.
McCall was arrested during a burglary Oct. 17 in the 600 block of Parkcliff Avenue, also on the South Side. Police found him standing at the rear of a home with a broken window holding a television cord and several Playstation video games.
Two other men ran from the home, but officers were unable to catch them in a foot chase.
Police said McCall and the other two men may have been living in an abandoned house at 623 Parkcliff. Inside the dwelling, police found stolen items from the burglarized home along with food, blankets and clothing, according to the police report.
