Warren man charged in theft

STAFF REPORT

NEWTON FALLS — The police department here says it has arrested a Warren man on a felony charge of receiving stolen property after officers arrived at Falls Recyling scrapyard on First Street to find the man unloading a stolen and crushed tractor-trailer.

Charged is Timothy J. Wilks, 47, of Red Fox Run. He is expected in Newton Falls Municipal Court today to answer to the charge.

Police Chief John Kuivila said the scrapyard called police around 9 a.m. Monday with suspicions about the scrap.

An officer determined that the tractor/trailer had been stolen from Weathersfield Township over the weekend.

Kuivila said the investigation has now widened to involve other individuals who may have been involved in a larger theft operation. He said he doesn’t know how the vehicle and trailer got crushed.
