Ohio motor vehicle renewals slowed by upgrades
COLUMBUS (AP) — Because of glitches, many motorists are finding the process of renewing an Ohio vehicle registration has shifted into a slower gear.
Spokeswoman Lindsay Komlanc says the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles is backed up with renewal requests because of recent, temporary equipment shutdowns to do upgrades. So, motorists waiting for a new license plate or registration sticker may instead get a letter tacking another 45 days on their current registration.
The letter must be carried in the vehicle until the new registration arrives.
Komlanc says she doesn’t know how many registrations have been caught in the backlog. She says the BMV hopes to have it cleared out by the end of this week.
