Rotary is collecting ‘Pennies for Polio’
WARREN — The Rotary Club of Warren hopes to raise more than $1,000 this year from its “Pennies for Polio” campaign by putting piggybanks at various outlets in the area.
For as little as 60 cents, a child can be protected from polio for life, said Dan Rowland, Warren Rotary president.
“As part of a $355 million challenge grant awarded to Rotary by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rotary clubs worldwide is trying to raise $200 million by 2012 to provide critical support to polio eradication activities.
The Rotary Club of Warren meets every Wednesday at noon at Enzo’s Restaurant on Elm Road.
