AUSTINTOWN — One man was arrested in the robbery of a Compass West Drive resident.
Brian Collins, 20, of Shields Road in Boardman, is charged with complicity/aggravated robbery.
The 25-year-old victim told Austintown police two men wearing hooded sweat shirts and ski masks followed him to the door of his apartment at about 11 p.m. Monday, and one of the men held a gun to his head.
He said the men stated they would kill him if he didn’t let them in. The victim told police he gave them $50 from his pocket, and the men turned and ran back outside.
A resident who was outside the apartment building told police he saw the men get into a dark-colored Pontiac Grand Prix and drive away toward Westgate Boulevard. Police saw the car driving North on Rosemont Avenue and followed it as it pulled into a private driveway at 3935 Elmwood Ave., according to the police report. Two men fled on foot, but Collins, who was driving, remained in the car and was arrested.
He told police he didn’t know what had happened at the apartment. He said he dropped his two friends at Compass West and waited for them to return to the vehicle before driving away.
Collins was booked on the felony charge and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
