State mulls loan for McDonald’s warehouse

STAFF REPORT

The state is considering a $1 million loan for a proposed McDonald’s warehouse in Mahoning County as the warehousing company continues to look for a site.

The loan to Anderson-DuBose of Solon is among the items that is to be taken up Monday by the state controlling board. It would be used to help the company buy equipment.

The loan request says the warehouse would be built at an undetermined site in Mahoning County.

Anderson-DuBose had proposed building a warehouse in Jackson Township to serve McDonald’s restaurants in the Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Mahoning Valley areas. Last week, however, the township trustees turned down a rezoning request necessary for the warehouse to be built at Blott and South Bailey roads.

Walter Good, vice president for economic development for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, said company officials are evaluating other sites in North Jackson and talking with landlords. He said Lordstown sites also were being considered, although Lordstown is in Trumbull County.

He added, however, that the company is evaluating sites outside the Mahoning Valley as well.
