The month of November at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County features a visit by a Literary Society author and a teen event in anticipation of the “New Moon” movie, from the popular teen fiction “Twilight” series.

Literary Society

“Let’s Talk Sports.” Author David Lee Morgan Jr. will talk sports and more. His books include, “LeBron James: The Rise of a Star,” “More than a Coach: What It Means to Play for Coach, Mentor, and Friend Jim Tressel,” and “High School Heroes.” Morgan, a Warren native, is a sports writer for the Akron Beacon Journal. A special “tailgate” menu will be provided by New Seasonings, operators of caf s in the Newport and East libraries. Dress is casual. This event is a fundraiser for the library. Tickets are $35 each. “CSI Y’town - “Filming the Crime Scene.” Presenter Art Byrd will discuss why he started writing and making films with a crime theme. His work with a local TV news department had an effect on this choice. “Pups and Pages.” Children gain confidence and improve their reading skills as they read to an uncritical and tail-wagging audience.
