Austintown displays its new fire truck
AUSTINTOWN — The newest addition to the township fire department’s fleet will be on display tonight.
Administrator Mike Dockry said residents are invited to view the fire truck, which was delivered last week, at 5:45 p.m. at Austintown Township Hall, 82 Ohltown Road, prior to the start of the township trustee meeting at 6 p.m.
The truck, which cost $285,000 and holds 750 gallons of water, was purchased through $247,500 FEMA and Homeland Security Firefighter’s Grant and $37,500 in township funds, Dockry said. The engine will be stationed at the Mahoning Avenue station and reduce annual maintenance costs by about $15,000 per year.
He said it’s replacing a 31-year-old pumper truck that suffered severe rust and bowing.
