Wedding, anniversary celebration combined in ceremony

OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — On Aug. 12 Sara Sculli and Christopher Yorty, both of 118 Cedar Mountain Road, Stephen City, Va., were united in marriage, and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sculli, 970 Old Furnace Road, Youngstown, observed their 65th anniversary by renewing their nuptial vows during a joint ceremony, which took place on the beach.

The Rev. Morningstar officiated at the ceremony, and a reception honoring both couples followed at a beach villa.

The bride wore a Grecian-style candlelight gown embellished with jeweled straps and bodice.

Gowns in various shades of blue were worn by the bride’s cousin and honor attendant, Christian Frano, and the bridesmaids, Hope Bache, Bre Blystone and Maurie Testa.

Jay Yorty performed the duties of best man for his brother, and groomsmen were Michael Heath and Justin Gilbert.

Mrs. Yorty graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in allied health. She is a surgical assistant with Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center in Fairfax. Va.

Mr. Yorty is a paramedic/fireman with Fairfax County Fire Department. He earned a degree in criminal justice from Kent State University.

The couple, who live in Stephen City, have postponed their wedding trip until a later date.

It was on Aug. 12, 1944, that Joseph Sculli and the former Rose Pasquale were united in marriage at St. Anthony Church in Youngstown. They are members of St. Christine Church.

The couple have five children, Frank Sculli, Joseph Sculli and Patricia Frano, all of Canfield; Anthony Sculli of Lady Lake, Fla.; and Roseann Nardy of Solon. Their family includes 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Sculli was employed in a custodial position with Youngstown City Schools before retiring 25 years ago.

Mr. Sculli, who was an assistant superintendent with the Youngstown Water Department, also retired 25 years ago.
