Treasure Hunters seek antiques, collectibles

LIBERTY — The Treasure Hunters Roadshow will stop at the Quality Inn and Suites, 4055 Belmont Ave., Tuesday through Saturday. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event is free.

People can bring in rare and unusual antiques and collectibles so that the experts can answer questions about them and maybe make a purchase offer. Payment is made on the spot.

Coins and paper currency issued prior to 1965, toys, dolls, trains, vintage jewelry, old and modern musical instruments, war memorabilia, gold and silver jewelry, costume jewelry, advertising memorabilia, swords, knives and daggers are examples of the types of objects sought.

Guests are advised not to clean antiques or collectibles, as they might be damaged.

Depending on the size of the crowd, the wait to see an expert might be up to 45 minutes.

There is no limit to the number of items that can be brought.

Jewelry, broken or intact, made of gold, silver and platinum, and coins made prior to 1965 are especially in demand.

Model train display will be open to public

AUSTINTOWN — Model trains of all shapes and sizes can be seen at the Youngstown Model Railroad Association fall open house, the weekends of Nov. 7-8 and 14-15 and Dec. 5-6.

The YMRA is at the corner of Raccoon Road and Four Mile Run Road.

Hours are noon to 6 p.m. all six days.

The YMRA is one of the few clubs in the country that has two complete displays: O scale and the smaller HO scale. Both extensive layouts feature more than 100 scale miles of track.

A complete steel mill complex and its track work is currently being installed on the HO layout.

Spectators can see exactly how a model railroad is constructed.

The large O scale trains bring back memories for many, as they are the same size that many people had under their Christmas trees years ago.

A donation of $3 per person is requested (children under 12 with an adult are free).

‘Harold and Purple Crayon’ for children

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Enchantment Theatre Company will present the stage adaptation of “The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon” at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 in Orr Auditorium at Westminster College.

The touring production, suitable for children age 3 to 8, features life-sized puppets, masked actors, magic and music. It also uses large-scale animation to create Harold’s world of make-believe.

Tickets are $8 for children and $13 for adults and can be ordered by calling the college’s Celebrity Series box office at (724) 946-7354.
